Rot
Rot ist der Farbreiz, der wahrgenommen wird, wenn Licht mit einer spektralen Verteilung ins Auge fällt, dessen Maximum im Wellenlängenintervall oberhalb 600 nm liegt. Während die meisten Säugetiere Probleme haben, die Farbe Rot wahrzunehmen, reagiert das menschliche Auge sehr empfindlich darauf. Entsprechend häufig findet diese Farbe Verwendung bei Warnsignalen. Rot erhielt in der Entwicklung der meisten Sprachen sehr früh ein eigenes Wort, gleich nach der sprachlichen Unterscheidung von „Hell“ und „Dunkel“. Das althochdeutsche Wort „rôt“ entwickelte sich aus dem germanischen „rauðaż“ und dem indogermanischen *ẖereúdʰ und bezeichnete die Farbgebung von Kupfer, Gold und anderen Metallen.

Rot
Rot kallas den del av en växt som förankrar växten i marken. Växten använder sina rötter för att suga upp markvatten och växtnäringsämnen ur jorden, samt för att ge trädet stabilitet. Vissa växter har även så kallade luftrötter (se lianer). Hos tvåhjärtbladiga växter består rotsystemet av en huvudrot (pålrot) med sidorötter. Hos enhjärtbladiga växter består rotsystemet av serier med birötter.

Decomposizione (biologia)
La decomposizione (anche detta, impropriamente, putrefazione) è il processo di disfacimento dei corpi (o di parte di essi) di organismi precedentemente viventi, che si scompongono nelle forme più semplici della materia dopo la morte.
La scienza che studia la decomposizione è generalmente denominata tafonomia.
Il fenomeno ha rilevanza per l'uomo anche sotto l'aspetto sanitario e della nutrizione, poiché l'uomo si alimenta di carni di animali morti, anch'esse quindi soggette a decomposizione.
