Vaso sanitário
Um é o objeto costumeiramente usado para urinar e evacuar. É também conhecido como bacia, privada ou trono, em linguagem mais popular no Brasil, e como retrete em Portugal.
Normalmente é um vaso de cerâmica, cuja boca ovalada é desenhada para garantir o conforto do utilizador.
Seu funcionamento é bastante simples: o vaso mantém uma quantidade de água; logo atrás, o cano do vaso sanitário que leva os dejetos faz uma curva para cima e outra para baixo - um sifão - e que, somente depois, vai para o esgoto; nessa curva, uma quantidade de água fica acumulada e, quando a descarga é acionada, uma quantidade de água é liberada.

Inodoro
Inodoro es algo que no tiene olor. Por ello, se utiliza el mismo nombre para denominar al aparato utilizado para recoger y evacuar los excrementos humanos hacia la instalación de saneamiento y que (mediante un cierre de sifón de agua limpia) impide la salida de los olores de la alcantarilla hacia los espacios habitados. Generalmente los inodoros se fabrican de porcelana, pero también de loza y de acero inoxidable.

Ex: This book tells the exploits of a country carpenter who specializes in building privies.
Ex: It is worth camping out there for the weekend but probably with mates as it is hard to convince the chicks they want to hike over a ridge to get to a place with no bogs.
Ex: Such things as the minimum room temperature within one hour of starting work, the adequacy of light and ventilation, toilet provision, fire regulations and exits are all well covered in considerable detail.
Ex: Early on on a Friday night and three of the loos were out of order, the floor was covered in a layer of rancid water and it stank to high heaven.
Ex: The presence of somebody else in the bathroom makes it difficult to relax while on the crapper, so you should always wait to poop when the bathroom is empty.
Ex: There were, of course, serious day-to-day problems, such as the garderobes which voided into the street or the cesspools which overflowed into a neighbour's garden.
Ex: An exciting find was made when the latrine drains were cleared out in the mid-nineteenth century and a hoard of silver pennies was uncovered.
Ex: Indy was supposed to have a huge fight scene using his whip, but a bout of dysentery had left him weak and desperately needing the john.
