retraits sur les prises

Un retrait sur des prises ou un retrait sur trois prises (anglais strikeout) est un terme du baseball. Quand le frappeur enregistre trois prises pendant sa présence au bâton, il est éliminé et il enregistre un retrait sur les prises. Le retrait sur les prises fut établi dans le règlement du baseball en 1845 dans les Knickerbocker Rules écrits par Alexander Cartwright: « Three balls being struck at and missed and the last one caught, is a hand-out; if not caught is considered fair, and the striker bound to run. »
