A resource is a source or supply from which an organization gains profit. Typically resources are materials or other assets that are transformed to produce benefit and in the process may be consumed or made unavailable. From a human perspective a natural resource is anything obtained from the environment to satisfy human needs and wants. From a broader biological or ecological perspective a resource satisfies the needs of a living organism (see biological resource).

Eine Ressource [rɛˈsʊrsə] (französisch la ressource [ʀəˈsuʀs], „Mittel, Quelle“, von lateinisch resurgere, „hervorquellen“) ist ein Mittel, um eine Handlung zu tätigen oder einen Vorgang ablaufen zu lassen. Eine Ressource kann ein materielles oder immaterielles Gut sein. Meist werden darunter Betriebsmittel, Geldmittel, Boden, Rohstoffe, Energie oder Personen und (Arbeits-) Zeit verstanden, in der Psychologie auch Fähigkeiten, Charaktereigenschaften oder eine geistige Haltung, in der Soziologie auch Bildung, Gesundheit und Prestige. In Managementprozessen und in der Technik wird die Zuteilung von Ressourcen als Ressourcenallokation bezeichnet.

Zasoby programu (z ang. resources). W środowisku Windows: pliki wykonywalne EXE, przeznaczony na platformę Win32 i biblioteki DLL są podzielone na 2 segmenty: kod i dane (zasoby). W segmencie danych (zasobów) można umieścić następujące elementy:

• dane nt. interfejsu użytkownika (rozmiar, kolejność, rozmieszczenie, położenie itp.):
  • okna dialogowe
  • menu
• łańcuchy znaków
• kursory
• ikony programu
• bitmapy.

Te dane mogą być następnie użyte w trakcie działania programu korzystając z interfejsu WinAPI. Dzięki zasobom segment danych programów w systemie Windows można łatwo modyfikować bez potrzeby dekompilacji/znajomości języków programowania (jeśli posiadamy kod źródłowy) programami typu Restorator, tworząc np. nowe wersje językowe programów.

資源（しげん、Resource）は、人間の生活や産業等の諸活動の為に利用可能なものをいう。広義には人間が利用可能な領域全てであり、狭義には諸活動に利用される原材料である。
