repressed memory therapy (RMT, RMT therapy, trauma-search therapy)

A mode of psychotherapy that encompasses guided imagery, hypnotism, and trance writing. According to RMT theory, such problems as bulimia, depression, excessive anxiety, and insomnia stem from unconscious exclusion from consciousness of any portion of one’s memory that relates to being abused sexually in childhood.
