Fiqh (Arabic: فقه) is Islamic jurisprudence. It is an expansion of Islamic law, complemented by the rulings of Islamic jurists to direct the lives of Muslims.The Historian Ibn Khaldun describes fiqh as "knowledge of the rules of God which concern the actions of persons who own themselves bound to obey the law respecting what is required (wajib), forbidden (haraam), recommended (mandūb), disapproved (makruh) or merely permitted (mubah)".

Le fiqh (arabe : fiqh, : dérive du verbe signifiant comprendre) est traduit par la jurisprudence islamique relative aux avis juridiques pris par des docteurs de l'Islam sur les limites à ne pas dépasser par les musulmans. Il s'agit donc d'une compréhension du message de l'Islam sur le plan juridique.

פיקה (בערבית: الفقه, תעתיק מדויק: פִקה) הוא שם נרדף למשפט המוסלמי שנקרא גם בשם שריעה. ההבדל בין שריעה ובין פיקה הוא שהפיקה משמעותו האדם אשר מנסה להבין את השריעה ובכך הוא מפרש אותה. הפיקה נראה כמושג יותר דינאמי משריעה כך שחכם ההלכה (אלפקיה) המוסלמי יכול לפרש את השריעה בהתאם למציאות החברתית והפוליטית הקיימת בזמנו או להתאים לזמנו חוקים מן השריעה שנראו בעיניו כבלתי ישימים. הפיקה היה למעשה מנגנון חברתי וחוקי אשר התאים את השריעה במשך התפתחותה לאורך הדורות לנסיבות הזמן והמציאות החברתית אשר משתנה מדור לדור.
