Recorde ou record, é o ato de superar limites. É um termo usado para se referir a uma marca quantitativa que superou outra registrada anteriormente. Basicamente define a superação e imposição de um novo
limite a ser alcançado.Nos
esportes é definido como o ato de um ser
humano superar o outro. Ato este que recebe em determinadas ocasiões mais importância que um título oficialmente conquistado durante uma competição.Um exemplo de recorde é o número de verbetes, disponíveis online pela internet, alcançado pela Wikipédia: No momento em que esta linha é escrita, já são mais de 1,6 milhões de verbetes. Para se ter uma idéia, anterior a ela, uma enciclopédia de origem britânica e nome antológico apresenta cerca de 28 mil verbetes.
