Realism
In philosophy, Realism, or Realist or Realistic are terms that describe manifestations of philosophical realism, the belief that reality exists independently of observers. Scientific realism and Realism in the arts are two of a number of different senses the words take in other fields. In this broad sense Realism frequently contrasts with Idealism.

Le terme réalisme peut se rapporter à plusieurs choses :En philosophie :
- Le réalisme philosophique est une doctrine métaphysique qui s'oppose notamment au nominalisme et parfois à l'idéalisme. Il est représenté, par exemple, par Platon, Thomas d'Aquin et Frege.
- Le réalisme platonicien est une doctrine de Platon qui attribue aux Idées une existence en soi. On parle aussi de platonisme.

Realismo filosófico
Durante a Idade Média, três soluções para o problema dos universais e dos particulares foram propostas: o realismo, o conceitualismo e o nominalismo.Para o realismo, os universais existem objetivamente, seja na forma de realidades em si, transcendentes em relação aos particulares (como em Platão, universais ante rem), ou como imanentes encontrados nas coisas individuais (como para Aristóteles, universidade in re).
