Rapping
Rapping is the
rhythmic spoken delivery of
rhymes and wordplay, one of the central elements of
hip hop music and
culture. Although the word rap has sometimes been claimed to be a
backronym of the phrase "Rhythmic American Poetry", "Rhythm and Poetry", "Rhythmically Applied Poetry", or "Rhythmically Associated Poetry", use of the word to describe quick and slangy speech or repartee long predates the musical form.

Rap [] ist ein
Sprechgesang und Teil der
Kultur des Hip-Hop. „To rap“ (dt.: klopfen, pochen, meckern oder aber R.a.P. = Rhythm and Poetry zu dt.: Rhythmus und Poesie) deutet die Art der Musik und des Sprechgesangs an. Mit dem Begriff „Rap-Musik“ bezeichnet man daher auch die
Hip-Hop-Musik. Heute hat sich der Rap teilweise von seinen Wurzeln gelöst und wird auch in anderen Musikstilen eingesetzt, z. B. in
Pop,
Eurodance,
Crossover und
Nu Metal. Besonders in Bereichen unkommerzieller Rap-Musik, wie dem sogenannten Untergrund- oder Porno-Rap ist eine deutliche Abgrenzung zur ursprünglichen Hip-Hop-Musik erkennbar.
