A raion (or rayon) (;

Latvian: rajons, , raioni) is one of two kinds of administrative subdivisions in languages of some
post-Soviet states: a
subnational entity and a subdivision of a city. In these senses the term is almost always translated as "
district".Raion is a subnational entity of
Azerbaijan,
Belarus,
Georgia,
Latvia,
Moldova,
Russia,
Ukraine, and the former
Soviet Union. As an administrative subdivision, the term was introduced by the Soviet administrative reform of 1923–1929 that transformed many former
volosts and
uyezds of the
Russian Empire into raions.

Rajon (russisch, ukrainisch und bulgarisch район, weißrussisch раён, lettisch rajons, litauisch rajonas, georgisch რაიონი [ɾa.i.ɔ.ni], aserbaidschanisch rayon ; abgeleitet von französisch Rayon = Bezirk) ist die Bezeichnung für eine Verwaltungseinheit in
Russland, der
Ukraine,
Weißrussland,
Aserbaidschan sowie
Lettland,
Litauen und anderen Ländern. Sie entsprechen in etwa den deutschen
Landkreisen bzw.
Stadtbezirken und sind verwaltungshierarchisch unterhalb der „Subjektebene“, also der größeren Verwaltungsbezirke (
Oblaste), Regionen (
Kraj) oder Autonomen Kreise bzw. autonomen Republiken angesiedelt.

podziału administracyjnego w
ZSRR, a po jego rozpadzie w byłych republikach
Rosji,
Ukrainie,
Białorusi,
Azerbejdżanie,
Gruzji,
Łotwie,
Litwie i
Mołdawii. Rejony utworzono w latach 1923-1929 na miejsce jednostek administracyjnych cesarstwa rosyjskiego. Rejon może być częścią dużego miasta.
