Urodził się w Oakland. Jest dzieckiem muzyków Otis i Senesca Jackson. Wychował się w Oxnard. Aktualnie pracuje w Los Angeles. W 2007 roku wydał płytę Liberation w duecie z nowojorskim raperem Talibem Kweli.

Madlib (født Otis Jackson Jr., 24. oktober 1973 i Californien) er en amerikansk undergrundsproducer, rapper og dj. Han har kontrakt med pladeselskabet Stones Throw, der også huser bla. J Dilla, MED og Madlibs bror Oh No.Madlib har anvendt mange pseudonymer, bl.a. The Beat Konducta, Quasimoto, YNQ (Yesterdays New Quintet) og Dj Rels. Han er blandt de mest anerkendte hiphop-producere i 2000'erne.
