public place

A public space or a public place is a place where anyone has a right to come without being excluded because of economic or social conditions, although this may not always be the case in practice. One of the earliest examples of public spaces are commons. For example, no fees or paid tickets are required for entry, nor are the entrants discriminated based on background. Non-government-owned malls are examples of 'private space' with the appearance of being 'public space'.

Mit öffentlichem Raum (auch öffentlichem Bereich) wird der ebenerdige Teil einer Gemeindefläche, oder einer Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts verstanden, der der Öffentlichkeit frei zugänglich ist und von der Gemeinde bewirtschaftet und unterhalten wird. Im Allgemeinen fallen hierunter öffentliche Verkehrsflächen für Fußgänger, Fahrrad- und Kraftfahrzeugverkehr, aber auch Parkanlagen und Platzanlagen. Der Begriff findet überwiegend Anwendung in der Stadtplanung und Verkehrsplanung. Der öffentliche Raum steht dem privaten Raum gegenüber. Öffentliche Gebäude stellen eine andere Form öffentlicher Einrichtungen dar.

Przestrzeń publiczna - wszelkie miejsca dostępne powszechnie i nieodpłatnie, fizyczna przestrzeń w której może znaleźć się każda jednostka społeczna.Przykładami przestrzeni publicznych są drogi i ulice, place miejskie czy różne stale dostępne budowle i budynki stanowiące własność publiczną. Przestrzeniami publicznymi są też zwykle różne formy krajobrazu przyrodniczego stanowiące własność państwową lub gminną.Przestrzeniami publicznymi mogą stać się czasowo przestrzenie budynków użyteczności publicznej, jak np. pasaże centrów handlowych, hole kinowe, dworcowe, hale targowe, muzealne lub inne miejsca udostępniane publicznie przez właściciela lub zarządcę w określonym czasie np. prywatne parkingi czy ogrodzone parki lub ogrody.

O espaço público é considerado como aquele que, dentro do território urbano tradicional (especialmente nas cidades capitalistas, onde a presença do privado é predominante), seja de uso comum e posse coletiva (pertence ao poder público). A rua é considerada o espaço público por excelência.
