Psalms (from the
Greek: Psalmoi) (originally meaning "songs sung to a harp", from psallein "play on a stringed instrument", Ψαλμοί;
Hebrew: Tehilim, תהילים, or "praises") is a book of the
Hebrew Bible,
Tanakh or
Old Testament.In the Hebrew Bible, the Psalms are counted among the "Writings" or
Ketuvim (one of the three main sections into which the books are grouped).The Book of Psalms, especially if printed separately and set for singing or chanting, is also called the Psalter.
