In Western religion, prophecy (from Greek, "before-speech") is the divine gift of speaking the truth, especially about the future. One who speaks prophecy is called a prophet. The meaning and understanding of prophecy varies by culture and history.Prophecy often consisted of a warning that God's wrath would destroy the people if they disobeyed God or did not repent. Prophecies sometimes included promises of blessing for obeying God or repenting. Warning prophecies feature in Jewish scripture (Elijah,Isaiah, Ezekiel, etc.) and in the Christian New Testament (John the Baptist, Jesus, etc.) Prophecies sometimes foretell the coming of a divine figure, such as Jesus, or appear in apocalyptic literature, such as Daniel or Revelation.

Prophecy Productions ist ein deutsches Musiklabel mit Sitz in Zeltingen-Rachtig an der Mosel.Das Label wurde 1996 von Martin Koller gegründet, die erste Veröffentlichung war "A Wintersunset..." von Empyrium, welche durch ihren Erfolg dem Label auf den Weg half. Die Veröffentlichungen des Labels lassen sich in kein festes Genre eingrenzen. Hauptsächlich wird Musik aus den Bereichen Black Metal, Rock/Metal und Neofolk veröffentlicht, mitunter aber auch Popmusik.

Der Oberbegriff für gesammelte mündliche oder schriftliche Prophezeiungen, meist einer Einzelperson, ist Prophetie. Dieser Ausdruck stammt vom altgriechischen propheteía für „aussprechen“, „aussagen“ oder „für jemanden sprechen“ (φεµι [femí] = ich spreche; pro = für, heraus, anstelle).

Profezia è un film di "fantaecologia", con risvolti horror, realizzato da John Frankenheimer nel 1979.Il soggetto è tratto dal romanzo di David Seltzer (già autore, alcuni anni prima, del 'best-seller' Il presagio da cui è stato tratto l'omonimo e noto film del 1976). Pellicola ambiziosa, realizzata dalla Paramount senza lesinare un considerevole 'budget' per gli effetti speciali (siamo negli anni successivi al planetario successo economico de Lo squalo di Steven Spielberg e molte 'major' non disperavano di bissarne il successo). Nonostante il racconto sia interessante e il regista, non nuovo a vicende d'azione e a racconti ad "alta tensione" (Il braccio violento della legge 2, L'uomo di Alcatraz, Black Sunday, Ronin), sappia ben dosare i momenti di suspance, la pellicola, forse anche a causa di effetti speciali decisamente poco convincenti, ha deluso le aspettative dei produttori, realizzando un clamoroso flop al botteghino. All'insuccesso del film può aver contribuito, d'altra parte, il cast di estrazione televisiva, in cui spicca solo (anche se non per qualità interpretativa) il nome di Talia Shire. Eccellente ed avanguardistico il commento sonoro di Leonard Rosenman.
