Polystyrene
Polystyrene (; IUPAC poly(1-phenylethene-1,2-diyl)) also known as Thermocole, abbreviated following ISO Standard PS, is an aromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene, a liquid hydrocarbon that is manufactured from petroleum by the chemical industry. Polystyrene is one of the most widely used plastics, the scale being several billion kilograms per year.

Polystyrol
Polystyrol (Kurzzeichen PS, andere Namen: Polystyren, Polystyrene, IUPAC-Name: Poly(1-phenylethane-1,2-diyl)) ist ein transparenter, amorpher oder teilkristalliner Thermoplast. Amorphes Polystyrol ist ein weit verbreiteter Kunststoff, der in vielen Bereichen des täglichen Lebens zum Einsatz kommt.

Polystyren
Polystyren, eller styrenplast som gruppen kallas, är i sin rena form en amorf termoplast som är mycket billig och därför mycket vanlig. Dess glastemperatur är cirka 100 grader Celsius.

Polistyren
Polistyren (-[CH2CH(C6H5)]n-) polimer z grupy poliolefin otrzymywany w procesie polimeryzacji styrenu, pochodzącym zwykle z rafinacji ropy naftowej.
Po zmieszaniu z dodatkami, polistyren stanowi podstawę wielu tworzyw sztucznych, oznaczanych literami (PS). Czysty polistyren jest bezbarwnym, twardym, kruchym termoplastem (tworzywem formowanym przez topienie), o bardzo ograniczonej elastyczności.
Jako tworzywo sztuczne, polistyren może być bezbarwny, słabo przezroczysty, lub może być barwiony na dowolne, żywe kolory. Jego zaletą w stosunku do polietylenu i polipropylenu jest niższa temperatura mięknienia i mniejsza lepkość stopu, dzięki czemu łatwiej jest z niego otrzymywać w procesie formowania wtryskowego niewielkie przedmioty o złożonych kształtach.
