Płot – typ ogrodzenia odgradzającego prywatną posesję, budynki instytucji publicznych lub zakład pracy. Pojęcie płotu wywodzi się od słów pleć, plątać, gdyż pierwsze płoty, przynajmniej na obszarze słowiańszczyzny tworzone były poprzez wplatanie gałęzi między wbite w ziemie pale.
