phénotype

The phenotype describes the total physical appearance of an organism, as opposed to its genotype. This genotype-phenotype distinction was proposed by Wilhelm Johannsen in 1911 to make clear the difference between an organism's heredity and what that heredity produces. The distinction is similar to that proposed by August Weismann, who distinguished between germ plasm (heredity) and somatic cells (the body). A more modern version is Francis Crick's Central dogma of molecular biology.

Phenotype ist ein 2003 in der Version 1.0 erschienenes Open-Source-Web-Content-Management-System für mittlere bis große Websites. Phenotype basiert auf der serverseitigen Skriptsprache PHP in Verbindung mit dem Datenbanksystem MySQL. Die Erstversion wurde von Nils Hagemann und Paul Sellinger auf Basis bereits in Anwendung befindlicher Konzepte entwickelt. Im Jahr 2006 wurde die Software unter der GPL-Lizenz frei veröffentlicht und wird seither als SourceForge Projekt aktiv weiterentwickelt. Die aktuelle Version 2.5.2 wurde am 25. Oktober 2007 veröffentlicht.

Der Phänotyp oder das Erscheinungsbild ist die Summe aller äußerlich feststellbaren Merkmale eines Individuums. Er bezieht sich nicht nur auf morphologische, sondern auch auf physiologische Eigenschaften. Im Phänotyp spiegeln sich auch erworbene Eigenschaften wider, etwa vergrößerte oder verkümmerte Muskelgruppen, je nach häufigerem oder weniger häufigem Gebrauch, Zwergwuchs durch widrige Umweltbedingungen etc. Solche erworbenen Eigenschaften werden nicht weitervererbt, der Genotyp wird dadurch nicht beeinflusst.

Fenotyp (gr. phainomai - przejawiać; typos - wzór, norma) to najogólniej mówiąc zespół cech organizmu, włączając w to nie tylko morfologię, lecz również np. właściwości fizjologiczne, płodność, zachowanie się, ekologię, cykl życiowy, zmiany biologiczne, wpływ środowiska na organizm. Fenotyp jest ściśle związany z genotypem, bowiem to właśnie oddziaływanie między genotypem a środowiskiem daje fenotyp. Dlatego ten sam genotyp może dać różne fenotypy w różnych środowiskach (tzw. plastyczność fenotypowa), lub odwrotnie - mimo odmiennych genotypów uzyskać ten sam fenotyp.

Il fenotipo è la effettiva, totale manifestazione fisica di un organismo, in opposizione al suo genotipo - le istruzioni ereditate che porta, che possono essere o non essere espresse. Questa distinzione genotipo-fenotipo fu proposta da Wilhem Johannsen nel 1911 per rendere chiara la differenza tra l'eredità di un organismo e cosa l'eredità produce.
