peace movement

A peace movement is a social movement that seeks to achieve ideals such as the ending of a particular war (or all wars), minimize inter-human violence in a particular place or type of situation, often linked to the goal of achieving world peace. Means to achieve these ends usually include advocacy of pacifism, non-violent resistance, diplomacy, boycotts, moral purchasing, supporting anti-war political candidates, demonstrations, and National Political lobbing groups to create legislation. The Political Cooperative is an example of an organization that seeks to merge all peace movement organizations and green organizations which may have some diverse goals, but all of whom have the common goal of peace and humane sustainability.

Il movimento pacifista è un movimento sorto nelle ultime decadi del XX secolo che ha come obiettivo contrastare il verificarsi di guerre e ridurre, per quanto possibile, la violenza tra esseri umani. Ha inoltre l'obiettivo di garantire la sicurezza sanitaria fondamentale ponendo fine alla guerra ed implementando diritti umani fondamentali, compreso l'accesso universale almeno a livelli minimi di sopravvivenza di aria, acqua, cibo, assistenza medica e giustizia sociale.

Een vredesbeweging is elke beweging die ernaar streeft om een conflict of een oorlog te vermijden of te beëindigen. Dit streven naar vrede kan ingegeven zijn door een principieel pacifisme of antimilitarisme maar dat is niet noodzakelijk zo. Er kunnen ook andere redenen zijn waarom een partij vrede wil sluiten, door overeenkomst of zelfs door overgave. In 1917 zette Rusland de oorlog met Duitsland stop door aan zowat alle Duitse eisen te voldoen. Lenin en de Bolsjewistische partij kregen daarvoor grote steun van de Russische bevolking, die zwaar geleden had onder de oorlog.
