Paragraph
A paragraph is a self-contained unit of a discourse in
writing dealing with a particular point or
idea, or the words of an author. The start of a paragraph is indicated by beginning on a new line and ending without running to the next passage. Sometimes the first line is indented, and sometimes it is indented without beginning a new line. At various times the beginning of a paragraph has been indicated by the
pilcrow mark:
