Pápa is a historical
town in Veszprém county,
Hungary, located close to the northern edge of the Bakony Hills.The population is largely descendants of
German settlers, who came here mostly in the
18th century. The
Jewish population, numbering about 1250 people before the
Second World War, was almost completely exterminated during the
Holocaust. Pápa has a large historical centre, with renovated old burgher's houses, cafes, and museums, including the Blue-Dyeing Museum (Kékfestő Múzeum), set up in a one-time factory where they produced clothes and other textiles dyed with
indigo blue under a unique method. The town is also noted for its thermal baths, particularly a newly constructed swimming complex, the
Esterházy family's palace, its grand
Roman Catholic church, and
Calvinist secondary school; the town is an important religious centre. It also boasts a large park near the centre of town. The town has been the main center of trade in the wines of the
Somló wine region. Pápa was an administrative regional capital from
1945 to
1983.

The Professional and Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) is an organization supporting the game of
pinball as a recreational and competitive
sport. PAPA is currently owned and operated by Kevin Martin and is based in
Scott Township, Pennsylvania, just outside of
Pittsburgh.The main activity of the organization is hosting the annual World Pinball Championships, which brings hundreds of serious pinball players from around the world to compete for a number of large cash prizes. The
tournament runs for four days and allows competitors to register in any of three different divisions in order to accommodate beginners and skilled players alike. Each occurrence of the tournament has been denoted by a number; for example, the 2005 tournament is known as PAPA 8.

Pápa est une ville historique du département de
Veszprém dans l'ouest de la
Hongrie. Situé non loin des monts Bakony, elle compte 33.000 habitants. La ville est réputée pour son centre à l'architecture
baroque et plusieurs monuments remarquables. Elle fut un important centre religieux, catholique, protestant et hébraïque, du pays. La ville possède un centre thermal et un important parc près du centre ville.

Lasu Bakońskiego. Założone w 1383 roku. Około 33 tys. mieszkańców.Większość mieszkańców wywodzi się od niemieckich osadników, którzy przybyli w XVIII w.. Przed II wojną światową mieszkało tu 1250 Żydów, którzy w więksości zginęli podczas
Holokaustu.Miasto ma duże historyczne centrum, w którym znajdują się odnowione kamieniczki, kawiarnie i muzea, np. muzeum farbowania na niebiesko Kékfestő Múzeum ulokowane w starej farbiarni.

Pápa è una città storica della provincia di
Veszprém, in
Ungheria.La popolazione discende in larga parte dagli immigranti provenienti dalla
Germania, giunti in massa in Ungheria durante il
XVIII secolo. La popolazione
ebrea era circa di 1250 individui prima della
seconda guerra mondiale, quasi completamenti sterminata durante la pianificazione dell'
olocausto. Pápa possiede un vasto centro storico, con antiche abitazioni restaurate, caffè, e musei, incluso il Kékfesto Múzeum ("Museo della vernice blu"), costruito in una fabbrica dismessa dove venivano prodotti vestiti dipinti di blu indaco, utilizzando un metodo ritenuto unico al mondo. La città è famosa per i suoi
bagni termali, possiede una bella chiesa parrocchiale commissionata (con l'aiuto di artisti romani e danubiani) da
Károly Esterházy in stile
tardo-barocco e
neoclassico, una importante chiesa
romanica e una scuola superiore
calvinista; per questo motivo la città è considerata un importante centro religioso. Dal 1945 al 1983 è stata capoluogo di regione.
