panicle

A panicle is a compound raceme, a loose, much-branched indeterminate inflorescence with pedicellate flowers (and fruit) attached along the secondary branches (in other words, a branched cluster of flowers in which the branches are racemes). This type of inflorescence is largely characteristic of grasses like oat and crabgrass, as well as other plants such as pistachio and mamoncillo. Botanists use the term paniculate in two ways: "having a true panicle inflorescence" as well as "having an inflorescence with the form but not necessarily the structure of a panicle".

Een pluim (panicula) is een bloeiwijze met een lange as en vertakte zijassen, die dichter bij de top van de bloeiwijze meestal korter en minder vertakt zijn en ieder een verdere bloemtros draagt. In ruimere zin elke samengestelde vertakte bloeiwijze. Vele grassen hebben als bloeiwijze de pluim. Soms zijn de aartjes zeer kort gesteeld en vormen dan samen een dichte, smalle aarpluim, zoals bij de Grote vossenstaart of iets langer gesteeld, zoals bij kamgras.

Panícula é um tipo de inflorescência que se caracteriza por um cacho (rácimo) composto em que os ramos vão decrescendo da base para o ápice, razão porque assume forma piramidal. Um bom exemplo disso é o arroz. Geralmente cultivada entre os meses de maio a agosto, época em que a mesma se torna mais bela e impressionante.
