Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Benth; also patchouly or pachouli) is a species from the genus Pogostemon and a bushy herb of the mint family, with erect stems, reaching two or three feet (about 0.75 metre) in height and bearing small, pale pink-white flowers. The plant is native to tropical regions of Asia, and is now extensively cultivated in China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Mauritius, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as West Africa.

Indisches Patschuli (Pogostemon cablin) ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Familie der Lippenblütler (Lamiaceae). Sie ist bekannt für das aus ihr gewonnene Patschuliöl.

Le patchouli est une plante tropicale de la famille des Lamiacées utilisée surtout en parfumerie et en cosmétologie. En médecine traditionnelle chinoise, on l'emploie pour soigner la gastro-entérite. En aromathérapie, son essence est un tonique et un stimulant digestif, un tonique circulatoire (on l'utilise aussi pour les soins de la peau). Le terme « patchouli » désigne aussi le parfum extrait de cette plante.

Patchouli is een vast, ruig kruid dat tot een meter hoog wordt. Het heeft een stevige, harige stengel, geurige donzige bladeren en witte bloemen met een paarsige waas.
