osteopathy (osteopathic medicine)
A system of medical practice distinguished from mainstream biomedicine by its emphasis on bones and muscles. Dr. Andrew Taylor Still (1828-1917) founded osteopathy in 1874. Still asserted that God had revealed osteopathy to him. He taught that removal of structural defects enabled the body’s “life force” to create health.
