In a linear conception of time, the future is the portion of the time line that has yet to occur, i.e. the place in space-time where lie all events that still will or may occur. In this sense the future is opposed to the past (the set of moments and events that have already occurred) and the present (the set of events that are occurring now).

Aujourd'hui est un quotidien français qui se voulait « indépendant » et qui fut créé en août 1940 par Henri Jeanson pour remplacer le Canard enchaîné avec l'accord des Allemands. Le premier numéro parut le 10 septembre 1940. En novembre 1940, les autorités allemandes sommèrent le directeur d'Aujourd'hui de prendre publiquement position contre les juifs et en faveur de la politique de collaboration avec le Régime de Vichy. Henri Jeanson démissionna et le journaliste Georges Suarez lui succéda.

Przyszłość - w liniowej koncepcji czasu jest to część linii czasu, która dopiero ma się wydarzyć. Część czasoprzestrzeni, w której zawarte są wszystkie zdarzenia, które jeszcze nie miały miejsca. W tym sensie przyszłości przeciwstawiamy przeszłość (zbiór zdarzeń, które wydarzyły się wcześniej) oraz teraźniejszość (zbiór zdarzeń, które właśnie się dzieją).
