Nomos (plural: Nomoi) can refer to:the subdivisions of Ancient Egypt, see Nome (Egypt)the prefectures of Greece, the administrative division immediately below the peripheries of Greece law . Das Wort „Nomos“ hat zwei Grundbedeutungen, die beide aus dem Griechischen stammen: Nomós (Betonung auf der zweiten Silbe) im räumlichen Sinn von „Bezirk“ und Nómos (Betonung auf der ersten Silbe) im rechtlichen Sinn von „Gesetz“. Der räumliche Sinn ist dabei der ältere, siehe Carl Schmitt „Der Nomos Der Erde“:Das griechische Wort für die erste, alle folgenden Maßstäbe begründende Messung, für die erste Landnahme als die erste Raumteilung und -Einteilung, für die Ur-Teilung und Ur-Verteilung ist: Nomos. Die ursprüngliche Bedeutung ist „Wohnstätte“, „Gau“, „Weideplatz“ (siehe auch Artikel Nomade). Das griechische Wort „Nemus“ ist von der selben Wurzel abgeleitet und kann als „Wald“, „Hain“, „Forst“ kultische Bedeutung haben.

Antico Egitto Con il termine nomos (al plurale nomoi), gli storici greci, primo fra tutti Erodoto, identificarono i distretti in cui era suddiviso l'antico Egitto. L'Alto Egitto era suddiviso in 22 distretti mentre il Basso Egitto ne comprendeva 20. Gli storici greci definirono nomarchi i governatori dei distretti sia che si trattasse di funzionari di nomina reale che di governanti ereditari più o meno indipendenti (a seconda del periodo della storia dell'Egitto) dal potere centrale.

NOMOS is een afkorting voor NOise MOnitoring System en wordt door Schiphol gebruikt om vlucht- en geluidsgegevens te analyseren. Hiertoe zijn er 27 meetpunten ingedeeld in plaatsen rond Schiphol. Gegevens van de metingen zijn te volgen via de website van de luchthaven.
