Nominative case
The nominative case (abbreviated ) is one of the grammatical cases of a noun or other part of speech, which generally marks the subject of a verb or the predicate noun or predicate adjective, as opposed to its object or other verb arguments. Generally, the noun "that is doing something" is in the nominative, and the nominative is the dictionary form of the noun.

En linguistique, le nominatif est le cas du sujet grammatical, c'est-à-dire l'actant dit acteur (dans la diathèse active), ou objet patient (dans la diathèse passive). En grammaire de l'ancien français, on le nomme cas sujet.

Nominativ
Nominativ är det kasus som anger subjektet i en sats. I svensk grammatik benämns ofta substantivens grundform, vilken också används för fler syntaktiska funktioner - inklusive objekt, som nominativ. Om ett av kasusen i ett språk med flera sådana är omarkerat (får ingen ändelse eller motsvarande), brukar det ofta vara nominativ. I vissa språk är det ackusativ.

Mianownik (przypadek)
Mianownik (łac. nominativus) jest przypadkiem, w którym rzeczownik występuje w roli podmiotu. W mianowniku występuje zazwyczaj forma słownikowa.

Przypadek ten występuje m.in. w języku polskim, w innych językach słowiańskich, w niemieckim, w węgierskim, w łacinie, w staroangielskim itd. W języku angielskim forma słownikowa bywa określana jako subiectivus (ang. subjective case), ponieważ ma inny zakres użycia niż standardowy mianownik. W języku tym jedynie zaimki osobowe rozróżniają subiectivus (I, we, you, he, she, it, they) i obliquus (ang. oblique case - me, us, you, him, her, it, them).
