NOiSE
This article is about NOiSE the manga. For other uses, see Noise (disambiguation). is a one volume manga created by Tsutomu Nihei as a prequel to his ten-volume work, Blame!. Noise offers some information concerning the Megastructure's origins and initial size, as well as the origins of Silicon life. The book also includes Blame, a one-shot prototype for Blame!, which originally debuted in 1995.

Noise
In common use, the word noise means any unwanted sound. In both analog and digital electronics, noise is an unwanted perturbation to a wanted signal; it is called noise as a generalisation of the audible noise heard when listening to a weak radio transmission. Signal noise is heard as acoustic noise if played through a loudspeaker; it manifests as 'snow' on a television or video image. Noise can block, distort, change or interfere with the meaning of a message in human, animal and electronic communication.

Naoise
In Irish mythology, Naoise (, also spelled Noisiu) was the nephew of King Conchobar mac Nessa of Ulster, and a son of Usnech (or Uisliu), in the Ulster Cycle.

Geräusch
Geräusch (von Rauschen) ist ein Sammelbegriff für alle Hörempfindungen, die nicht ausschließlich als Ton oder als Klang bezeichnet werden können. Ursache für ein Geräusch sind Schwingungsvorgänge, die in der Regel nicht periodisch verlaufen und sich in ihrer Struktur zeitlich ändern können.

Noise
Noise, dans la mythologie celtique irlandaise, est un héros du Cycle d'Ulster, il apparaît notamment dans le récit de Longes mac nUislenn (L’Exil des fils d’Usnech). Il est le fils d’Usnech (parfois nommé Uisliu) et le neveu du roi d’Ulster, Conchobar Mac Nessa. Le sens de son nom est « homme de réputation ».

Noise
Noise är en musikgenre som använder ljud som, under normala omständigheter, är ansedda som obehagliga eller plågsamma. Musikgenrens namn, noise, eller oljud på svenska, är av en del ansett som en motsägelse, för att "oljud" är vanligtvis definierat som oönskat eller ofrivlligt ljud, och musik motsatsen. Den inom noise-subkulturen kände artisten Masami Akita (Merzbow), svarade på detta: "Om du med oljud (noise) menar obehagligt ljud, då är popmusik oljud för mig." Noise är inte nödvändigtvis "oljud" för lyssnarna, även om det mer allmänt talat kan klassas som det. Noise utgör vanligen en del av industriscenen, men behöver inte tillhöra den.

Noise
Noise - (z ang. 'szum, hałas'). Termin ten jest dość wieloznaczny, używa się go w stosunku do pewnych odmian muzyki elektronicznej jak i tej z użyciem sprzętu analogowego, oraz stricte rockowej (zwykle w zestawieniach: noise rock, noise pop).
Podwaliny estetyki noise/industrial kładł Luigi Russolo, włoski futurysta i kompozytor. Był on autorem swoistego manifestu o tytule "Sztuka Hałasu" (L'arte dei rumori) (1913). Kontynuatorem jego koncepcji był Edgar Varese. Postacie równie ważne to John Cage oraz Karlheinz Stockhausen.
W odniesieniu do teraźniejszej muzyki elektronicznej oznacza ekstremalnie hałaśliwą formę muzyki industrialnej, skoncentrowaną na wszelkiego rodzaju szumach, trzaskach, zgrzytach, piskach, nawałnicy przesterowanego dźwięku, a w warstwie przekazu często na fascynacji tematyką sadomasochizmu, samobójstw, ludobójstw, dewiacji, seryjnych morderców, systemów totalitarnych, aktów kanibalizmu, koprofilii, itd. Choć nie jest to w żadnym razie warunek konieczny, wiele projektów ma charakter czysto eksperymentalny czy humorystyczny. W ramach noise'u można wyróżnić następujące podstyle: harsh noise, power noise, power electronics, ambient noise etc.

Szum (sygnal)
Szum - pojęcie z dziedziny teorii sygnałów stochastycznych, w szczególności z dziedziny akustyki.
- Szum akustyczny - dźwięk, którego widmo jest w większości zakresu słyszalności zrównoważone.
- Szum sejsmiczny - dotyczy fali mechanicznej rozchodzącej się w Ziemi i obserwowanej przez sejsmografy (należy on również do kategorii szumów akustycznych o częstotliwościach niskich i bardzo niskich (także poniżej zakresu słyszalności))
- Szumy termiczne - zakłócenia wszelkich sygnałów elektrycznych wywoływane zjawiskami termicznymi w ciałach stałych (metalach, półprzewodnikach) i gazach (np. w lampach elektronowych)
- Szum śrutowy - specyficzny rodzaj szumu wywołany niejednorodnością przepływu elektronów w obwodzie; jego widmo jest płaskie, jest to więc szum biały
- Szum wybuchowy - rodzaj szumu o charakterze impulsowym; czas trwania impulsu oraz moment wystąpienia jest przypadkowy, ma stałą amplitudę
