Noir (fran. czerń) to 26-odcinkowy serial anime z 2001 roku, stworzony przez japońskie studia animacji Bee Train i Victor Entertainment.Serial opowiada o losach dwóch młodych dziewczyn pracujących jako płatne morderczynie, które po spotkaniu odbywają podróż aby znaleźć odpowiedzi na tajemnice ze swojej przeszłości. Podczas serii, są zwabiane do coraz większej ilości pułapek zastawianych przez potajemną organizację nazwaną Les Soldats. Serial charakteryzuje się na pierwszy rzut oka powolną akcją, skomplikowaną fabułą i oryginalną muzyką (połączenie opery, klasyki i techno), łączone również z pięknymi elementami sztuki gotyckiej, z takąż samą muzyką (w trakcie niektórych scen) w tle.

Il noir o romanzo nero (noir fiction in inglese, Roman noir o polar in francese) è, in letteratura, un sottogenere del giallo, apparso negli Stati Uniti intorno alla seconda guerra mondiale per opera di scrittori come Cornell Woolrich (La sposa era in nero), considerato da molti il fondatore del genere, e James M. Cain (La morte paga doppio). Il noir si differenzia dal giallo perché lo scopo del libro non è solamente raccontare e risolvere un crimine. A fine romanzo il lettore deve riflettere, sulla base di ciò che ha letto, sulla realtà che gli sta intorno, deve analizzare il mondo che lo circonda in base alle informazioni che riesce a raccogliere dal libro, in modo tale che quasi la soluzione del crimine passi in secondo piano.
