Nitrogenous base
Nitrogenous bases are organic compounds that owe their basic properties to the lone pair of electrons of a nitrogen atom. Typical nitrogenous bases are ammonia (NH3), triethylaminepyridine, and the nucleobases adenineguaninethyminecytosine, and uracil. Nitrogenous bases can be classified under two groups: purines (A and G) and pyrimidines (C, T, and U). These bases make up a crucial part of both deoxyribonucleotides and ribonucleotides, and the interactions between Adenine/Thymine and Guanine/Cytosine are the basis for the universal genetic code. Uracil replaces Thymine in RNA. Base nitrogenada
Las bases nitrogenadas son compuestos orgánicos cíclicos, que incluyen dos o más átomos de nitrógeno. Son parte fundamental de los nucleósidosnucleótidos y ácidos nucleicos. Biológicamente existen cinco bases nitrogenadas principales, que se clasifican en dos grupos, bases púricas (derivadas de la estructura de la purina) y bases pirimidínicas (derivadas de la estructura de la pirimidina). La adenina (A) y la guanina (G) son púricas, mientras que la timina (T), la citosina (C) y el uracilo (U) son pirimidínicas. Las cuatro primeras bases se encuentran en el ADN, mientras que en el ARN en lugar de timina existe el uracilo.
