, is a four-member Japanese boy band consisting of Keiichiro Koyama, Takahisa Masuda, Shigeaki Kato and Yuya Tegoshi. The group's name is an acronym based on the cardinal directions (North, East, West, South) and the members locations. Formed in 2003 by Johnny Kitagawa as a nine member group under the label Johnny's Entertainment, NEWS released a promotional single , which was used for the World Cup of Volleyball Championships. In 2004, Takahiro Moriuchi left the group and the remaining eight members released their debut single, , which debuted atop the Oricon charts.

NeWS (for Network extensible Window System) was a windowing system developed by Sun Microsystems in the mid 1980s. Originally known as "SunDew", its primary authors were James Gosling and David S. H. Rosenthal. The NeWS interpreter was based on PostScript (as was the later Display PostScript, although the two projects were otherwise unrelated) extending it to allow interaction and multiple "contexts" to support windows. Like PostScript, NeWS could be used as a complete programming language, but unlike PostScript, NeWS could be used to make complete interactive programs with mouse support and a GUI.

NEWS oder auch NewS sind eine japanische J-Pop Boygroup aus der Talentschmiede von Johnny & Associates. Der Name setzt sich aus den Anfangsbuchstaben der englischen Wörter für die vier Himmelsrichtungen zusammen. Die 6 offiziellen Mitglieder sind Tomohisa Yamashita, Ryo Nishikido, Keiichiro Koyama, Takahisa Masuda, Shigeaki Kato und Yuya Tegoshi. Hiroki Uchi und Hironori Kusano komplettieren die Gruppe, wurden aber von offiziellen Mitgliedern auf den Status von Lehrlingen zurückgesetzt.
