Netbook is an informal classification for a variety of small, low-power mobile personal computers (PCs) used primarily for e-mail and Internet access, that are becoming less common because of tablets such as Apple's iPad.

Als Netbook wird eine Klasse von Computern bezeichnet, die bei Größe, Preis und Rechenleistung kleiner als übliche Notebooks ausgelegt sind. Die Geräte sind vor allem als tragbare Internet-Clients konzipiert, verfügen daher üblicherweise über integriertes WLAN und, im Vertriebsmodell mit Mobilfunk-Vertrag, teilweise über ein integriertes Mobilfunk-Modem (UMTS).

Un netbook est un ordinateur portable de très petite taille (10 pouces de diagonale maximum), aux performances plus faibles qu'un ultraportable classique et vendu à bas prix (d'où le qualificatif low-cost).

En netbook är en mindre modell av en bärbar dator, som utformats så att den är lätt att bära med sig. Vikten är vanligtvis cirka 1 kg.
