Munter
Munter may refer to:
Alex Munter, 2006 Ottawa mayoral candidate, former city councillor.
Münter hitch, a simple
knot, also known as the Italian hitch, commonly used by
climbers and
cavers as part of a life-lining or
belay system.
Munter is a British
slur used to refer to a remarkably ugly person.
Munter is also slang for a person who takes drugs, usually ecstacy, and goes clubbing whilst high. E.g. "I went out last night but the place was full of gurning munters who wanted to hug me & sweat all over me - it was horrible."
Munter can also refer to people who are stupid, get their opinions mainly or solely from tabloid newspapers and can be relied upon to conform to the lowest common denominator. It may in this context be used as a noun - E.g. "in the eyes of the law he hadn't done anything wrong, but of course the munters were baying for his head" or as an adjective - E.g. "what a munter thing to say!" or "that hat is a bit munter". It may also occasionally be used in the manner of an expletive - for example, on hitting one's thumb with a hammer, one might exclaim "Munter!"
