Morena is a city and a municipality in Morena district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is also known as Muraina and is the administrative headquarters of Morena District and of Chambal Division.

The Movement for National Renewal (French: Mouvement de Redressement National or MORENA) is the main political party opposing the rule of President Omar Bongo in Gabon.MORENA was first organized in the 1970s by Gabonese exiles living in Paris. Illegal in Gabon and at risk from the Bongo supporters in the French government, MORENA did not operate openly until after the victory of the French Socialist Party in May 1981. Encouraged by the ascendance of the Socialists, MORENA sympathizers in Gabon prepared tracts and a White Book advocating a program of liberal multi-party democracy and accusing Bongo of corruption and other misdeeds. These were circulated during the visit of longtime opposition leader and elder statesman Jean-Hilaire Aubame in the fall of 1981, although Aubame did not himself support MORENA.

Morena (auch Morana, Marzana oder Marzanna) ist eine Gestalt der slawischen Mythologie, die mit Winter, Nacht und Tod assoziiert wird. In einigen Orten Mittel- und Osteuropas wird heute noch alljährlich eine Verbrennung bzw. Ertränkung der Morena veranstaltet. Dazu wird eine in ein altes Kleid gekleidete Strohpuppe, die Morena, öffentlich in einer Prozession umhergetragen und anschließend verbrannt oder ins Wasser geworfen. Dadurch soll der Winter endgültig ausgetrieben werden. Durch die Christianisierung der slawischen Völker wurde dieser Brauch zu einem Osterbrauch assimiliert. Als Gegengewicht zu Morena gilt eine mit buntem bzw. lebendigem Material geschmückte Rute oder auch ein Bäumchen, die das Leben symbolisieren.

Una morena è un accumulo di detriti rocciosi trasportati da un ghiacciaio nel suo scorrimento verso valle e depostisi al limitare dello stesso.I sedimenti morenici sono caratterizzati da assenza di cassazione, e forte eterogeneità nella dimensione dei clasti spesso annegati in una abbondante matrice argillosa siltosa.Sono chiamati pianalti le formazioni geologiche morenica tipiche delle Prealpi. Sono delle colline, profondamente incise dai corsi d'acqua, sui cui sono presenti depositi morenici e fluvio-glaciali. I pianalti furono il punto di incontro del fronte dei ghiacciai.
