A model is a pattern, plan, representation, or description designed to show the structure or workings of an object, system, or concept. And also it is a study of a miniature of the actual. Ein Modell ist allgemein eine auf bestimmte Zwecke ausgerichtete vereinfachende Beschreibung der Wirklichkeit. In der wissenschaftlichen Theoriebildung ist ein Modell das Ergebnis einer abstrahierenden und Relationen hervorhebenden Darstellung des behandelten Phänomens. Ein Modell entsteht, wenn Elemente aus dem Phänomen abstrahiert und zueinander in Beziehung gesetzt werden. Die Funktion des Modells besteht darin, aus den dargestellten Zusammenhängen Bedingungen und Prognosen bezüglich des Phänomens (oder Problems) ableiten zu können.
