MOD is a computer file format used primarily to represent music, and was the first module file format. MOD files use the “.MOD” file extension, except on the Amiga where the original trackers instead use a “mod.” prefix scheme, e.g. “mod.echoing”. A MOD file contains a set of instruments in the form of samples, a number of patterns indicating how and when the samples are to be played, and a list of what patterns to play in what order.

A mod is a festival of Scottish Gaelic song, arts and culture. Historically, the Gaelic word mòd refers to any kind of assembly. There are both local mods, and an annual national mod, the Royal National Mod. Mods are run under the auspices of An Comunn Gàidhealach.

Mod (Abgeleitet aus der Dateiendung .mod für Modul) ist das erste Trackermodul-Format. Es wurde 1987 von Karsten Obarski mit Protracker auf dem Heimcomputer Commodore Amiga eingeführt und war auf die Fähigkeiten des Amiga-Soundchips Paula abgestimmt. Es unterstützt 4 Spuren (Ausgabekanäle des Audiocoprozessors) und 31 Instrumente mit 8 Bit Abtasttiefe (Verarbeitung des Audiocoprozessors) und Notenabstände von minimal 0,02 Sekunden (bedingt durch die Synchronisation mit der vertikalen Bildaustastlücke von 50 Hz).

Un module est une appellation désignant un ensemble de formats de données audio numériques que l'on compose à l'aide d'un logiciel d'édition, plus communément appelé tracker ou sound tracker.

Trackermodul (engelska module, egentligen tracker module 'trackermodul') är ett samlingsnamn dels för musikfiler sparade av trackerprogram, dels för själva musiken.
