missed approach

Missed Approach is an instrument flight rules procedure which is a standard (but optional) component segment of an instrument approach. Generally, if the pilot in command determines by the time the aircraft is at the decision height (for a precision approach) or missed approach point (for a non-precision approach), that the runway or its environment is not in sight, or that a safe landing cannot be accomplished for any reason, the landing approach must be discontinued and the missed approach procedure must be initiated immediately.

Durchstarten (engl. go-around oder missed approach) bedeutet das Abbrechen der Landung eines Luftfahrzeugs, das sich im Endanflug (engl. final approach) befindet oder bereits auf der Landebahn aufgesetzt hat. Das Durchstarten wird von jedem Piloten bei der Ausbildung mehrfach durch sogenannte Touch-and-Gos oder low approaches (dtsch. tiefer Anflug) trainiert.

Go-around is de Engelse luchtvaartterm voor een doorstart. Hiermee wordt het afbreken van de landing door een vliegtuig bedoeld. In plaats van te landen, klimt het vliegtuig opnieuw naar een beperkte hoogte, meestal om een nieuwe landingspoging te ondernemen. De bemanning kan echter ook besluiten uit te wijken naar een ander vliegveld, en zal dan doorklimmen om de route naar het uitwijkveld te vervolgen.

b. Description of Maneuver. After performing an ILS approach to Decision Height, initiate a climb on runway heading to an altitude of 500 ft at an airspeed of 80 knots. At 500 ft, turn right to a heading 90 degrees from runway heading. Level off at 1,000 ft and accelerate to 100 knots. Once steady at this condition, turn right to a heading of 180 degrees from runway heading and climb to 2,000 ft. Once level at 2000 ft and steady on 100 knots, accelerate to 130 knots or VH.
