In
British English slang, minger (, rhymes with singer) is a
pejorative term for an unattractive person. A corresponding adjective is minging, which is also used attributively of inanimate objects. Ming or minger is said to derive from the slang word
minge (
vulva /
pubic hair), which is pronounced (rhymes with singe). Others suggest if derives from a Scottish word meaning to mix or mingle. The
Oxford English Dictionary updated the oldest known use of the word in print in 2006. It is now antedated to 1992; first used by the poet Clare Washbrook in "They Ming Therefore They Are".
