For the stellar phenomena, see: Meteor Meteorology (from Greek: μετέωρον, meteoron, "high in the sky"; and λόγος, logos, "knowledge") is the interdisciplinary scientific study of the atmosphere that focuses on weather processes and forecasting. Meteorological phenomena are observable weather events which illuminate and are explained by the science of meteorology. Those events are bound by the variables that exist in Earth's atmosphere. They are temperature, pressure, water vapor, and the gradients and interactions of each variable, and how they change in time. The majority of Earth's observed weather is located in the troposphere.

Meteorologia – (gr. metéōros (μετέωρον) - unoszący się w powietrzu, lógos (λόγος)- słowo, wiedza) nauka zajmująca się badaniem zjawisk fizycznych i procesów zachodzących w atmosferze, szczególnie w jej niższej warstwie - troposferze. La meteorologia (greco: Μετεορολογία) è una branca della scienza dell'atmosfera che studia i fenomeni fisici responsabili del tempo atmosferico. Essa si basa sull'osservazione, sulla misurazione e sulla previsione dei fenomeni atmosferici - quali il vento, i fronti, le nubi - e delle variabili misurabili ad essi legati come ad esempio la temperatura dell'aria, l'umidità atmosferica, la pressione atmosferica, la radiazione solare e la velocità e direzione del vento.
