Meteorite falls are those
meteorites that were witnessed by people or automated devices as they transited the atmosphere or impacted the Earth, and were subsequently collected. As of April 2007, there are about 1057 documented falls that are listed in widely used databases, most of which have specimens in modern collections. In addition to these, there are references to many other meteorite falls in the literature (e.g., Yao et al., 1994), but not enough is known about most of these to have confidence in their authenticity.
