Messenger RNA
Messenger RNA (mRNA) is a molecule of RNA that encodes a chemical "blueprint" for a protein product. mRNA is transcribed from a DNA template, and carries coding information to the sites of protein synthesis, the ribosomes. In the ribosomes, the mRNA is translated into a polymer of amino acids: a protein. (This process is sometimes referred to as the central dogma of molecular biology.)

MRNA
Als mRNA (von engl. messenger RNA), auch Boten-RNA, wird das RNA-Transkript eines zu einem Gen gehörigen Teilabschnitts der DNA bezeichnet. Die mRNA wird bei der Transkription von dem Enzym RNA-Polymerase synthetisiert.

MRNA
mRNA - matrycowy (lub informacyjny) RNA (z ang. messengerRNA). Cząsteczki kwasu rybonukleinowego zawierające przepisaną z genów, zakodowaną informację genetyczną o sekwencji poszczególnych polipeptydów.
Cząsteczki te po przyłączeniu się do rybosomów stanowią matrycę - kolejne trójki nukleotydów mRNA (tzw. kodony) są rozpoznawane przez odpowiednie fragmenty (tzw. antykodony) cząsteczek transportujących aminokwasy (tRNA), dzięki czemu w procesie translacji powstaje właściwa sekwencja peptydu.
mRNA u prokariotów ma od końca 5' niekodujące sekwencje liderowe (mogące brać udział w regulacji ekspresji genów), kodon AUG (metionina- aminokwas zapoczątkowujący każdą biosyntezę białka), inicjujący syntezę białek, a następnie rejon kodujący (kodony) zakończony kodonem terminacyjnym STOP (UAA, UAG, UGA - nie kodują żadnego aminokwasu).
