Melody
A melody (from Greek μελῳδία - melōidía, "singing, chanting"), also tune, voice, or line, is a linear succession of musical tones which is perceived as a single entity. In its most literal sense, a melody is a combination of pitch and rhythm, while, more figuratively, the term has occasionally been extended to include successions of other musical elements such as tone color. It may be considered the foreground to the background accompaniment. A line or part need not be a foreground melody.

Melody Miyuki Ishikawa
) (born February 24, 1982), who uses the stage name stylized as melody., is an American-born pop singer and television host in Japan. She debuted in February 2003 with the song "Dreamin' Away", under Toy's Factory. In October 2008, Melody announced on her blog that she will end her career as a music artist and instead focus on pursuing a career as a fashion designer.

Melodie
Der Begriff Melodie (von griech. melos = Lied und odé = Gesang) bezeichnet in der Musik die Aufeinanderfolge von Tönen in der Zeit, genauer: eine „in der Zeit sich entfaltende selbständige Tonbewegung“. Auch eine Tonfolge ist eine zeitliche Folge von Tönen, jedoch legt sie nur Tonhöhen und deren zeitliche Reihenfolge, nicht jedoch Tondauern fest. Der Begriff „Melodie“ dagegen umfasst nicht nur die Tonhöhenfolge, sondern auch die Tondauernfolge, also den Rhythmus.

Mélodie (succession de hauteurs)
Dans un système musical, le mot mélodie désigne la dimension qui prend en compte les hauteurs émises par une source, individuelle ou collective, instrumentale ou vocale, au sein d'une réalisation musicale quelconque. La mélodie s'oppose principalement au rythme, autre composante de la musique.

Melodia jest uszeregowaniem dźwięków w czasie. Jest powiązana przede wszystkim z rytmem. Wiąże się również z elementami ekspresji muzycznej: dynamiką i artykulacją, z następstw dźwięków wynikają połączenia harmoniczne.
Melodia zwykle związana jest z jedną, określoną tonacją i używa dźwięków do niej należących.
