Medroxyprogesterone is a progestin, and is commonly a component of hormonal contraceptives. It can be used in the treatment of endometriosis, abnormal menstrual bleeding or amenorrhea. Possible side effects include weight gain, depression, and irregular menses or amenorrhea.
