Master of Ceremonies
A Master of Ceremonies (MC or emcee), or Compère, is the official host of a staged event or similar performance. An MC usually presents performers, speaks to the audience, and generally keeps the event moving. An MC may also tell jokes or anecdotes. The MC sometimes also acts as the protocol officer during an official state function. In hip hop music, rock music and electronic dance music, an MC is a music artist and/or performer who usually creates and performs vocals for his own original material (not to be confused with a DJ who plays party music and creates music mixes).

MC (Musik)
Der MC oder älter Master of Ceremonies ist im englischen Sprachraum generell der Moderator einer Bühnenshow oder einer anderen Performance. Im deutschen Sprachraum ist das Wort als Titel für den Rapper in einer Hip-Hop-Gruppe vorgesehen oder als Moderator einer Veranstaltung im Bereich des Hardcore Techno, Hardstyle oder Drum ’n’ Bass. „MCing“ ist ein zentraler Bestandteil der Hip-Hop-Kultur.

Ceremonimästare, ämbetsman vid exempelvis ett hov eller inom ett ordenssällskap som har till uppgift att övervaka att ceremoniel, det vill säga formaliteter vid högtidligheter, iakttas.

Master of Ceremony
Master of Ceremony (MC, z ang. mistrz ceremonii) – w muzyce hip-hop i pokrewnych, raper zabawiający publiczność rymowaną improwizacją, często na zaproponowane przez nią tematy.
MC musi umieć układać rymy na poczekaniu. W slangu raperów nazywa się to freestylem. Pierwsi MC pojawili się na Jamajce, gdzie miksowali muzykę (reggae, dub, ragga, dancehall) za pomocą dwóch gramofonów, równocześnie zapowiadali utwory i zapraszali publiczność do zabawy z użyciem mikrofonu.
Pierwsi MC w USA pojawili się na początku lat 70. XX wieku, wraz z pojawieniem się rapu. MC kształtują swoje umiejętności poprzez ciągłe pisanie rymów, oraz praktykę. Większość raperów pojedynkowało sie w ten sposób (freestylowało) z innymi nabierając większego doświadczenia i szacunku po wygranej. Do dziś dochodzi do pojedynku na rymy miedzy dzielnicami wielu miast USA.
