lunar calendar

A lunar calendar is a calendar in many cultures that is oriented at the moon phase.This is normally done by having a month which corresponds to a lunation so that the day of month indicates the moon phase. If a calendar tracks the seasons, it is also a lunisolar calendar. Since there are about twelve lunations (synodic months) in a solar year, this period (354.37 days) is sometimes referred to as lunar year, corresponding to thirteen sidereal months (355.18 days).

Der Lunarkalender oder Mondkalender ist ein am Lauf des Mondes orientierter Kalender.Er basiert auf einem Mondjahr (Lunarjahr) und Mondmonaten: Für ein Lunarjahr mit 12 synodischen Monaten (Synodisches Mondjahr) oder 13 siderischen Monaten (siderisches Mondjahr) ergibt sich eine Länge von 354 bis 355 Tagen. Deshalb ist das lunare Jahr ca. 10 bis 12 Tage kürzer als das Sonnenjahr.

太陰暦（たいいんれき）は、月（太陰）の満ち欠けを基準にして作られている暦法。陰暦ともいう。太陽暦の1年（回帰年）はおよそ365.24日である。太陰暦でこれに近いのは12か月（約354日）なので、12か月を以て1年とする。太陰暦の1年は太陽暦よりも約11日短い。純粋な太陰暦は1年の長さが1回帰年よりも短いため、暦が実際の季節とずれてゆく。これを解消するために閏月を適宜挿入することで暦を調整するのが太陰太陽暦である。太陰太陽暦を広義の太陰暦に含める場合もあり、狭義の太陰暦を純粋太陰暦と呼ぶこともある。
