Logogram
A logogram, or logograph, is a grapheme which represents a word or a morpheme (the smallest meaningful unit of language). This stands in contrast to phonograms, which represent phonemes (speech sounds) or combinations of phonemes, and determinatives, which mark semantic categories.

Logografie
Als Logografie (von griech.  „Wort, Begriff“ und „schreiben“, etwa „Schrift aus Wortzeichen“) bezeichnet man eine Art von Schriftzeichensystemen, in denen die Bedeutung der einzelnen Sprachausdrücke durch grafische Zeichen wiedergegeben wird. Diese Schriftzeichen werden Logogramme genannt.

Logogramme
Un logogramme (du grec λόγος, « parole », ici « mot », et γράμμα, « caractère, lettre ») est un unique graphème notant un lemme entier et non seulement une partie de ses phonèmes. Dans la majorité des cas, rien n'indique, dans un logogramme, son signifiant (comment il doit être prononcé). En d'autres termes, c'est un signe unique écrit  qui représente un mot complet, indépendamment de la langue.

Logogram – rodzaj ideogramu, w którym symbol reprezentujący obiekt nie jest wizualnie związany z tym obiektem. Przykładem zastosowania logogramów jest sumeryjskie pismo klinowe.

表語文字
表語文字（ひょうごもじ、英: logogram）は、一つ一つの文字で言語の一つ一つの語や形態素を表す文字体系のことをいう。漢字は、1音節が1形態素となる中国語の形態素それぞれを1文字ずつで表記するので、体系的な表語文字の代表的なものである。

表語文字に対し、一つ一つの文字が音素や音節を表し、意味に対応しない文字体系を表音文字という。表語文字が原則として単独の文字で意味をなすのに対し、表音文字は特定の順序につながって語の発音を表すことで意味をなす。形式的に言い替えると、表語文字は言語の二重分節のうち、1次分節のレベルで言語を表記するものであると言える。

いっぽう、アラビア数字のように、それぞれの文字が表す意味は明確だが言語の発音との結びつきが弱いと考えられる文字体系を表意文字と呼ぶ。
