A lisp is a  speech impediment, historically also known as sigmatism. Stereotypically, people with a lisp are unable to pronounce sibilants (like the sound ), and replace them with interdentals (like the sound ), though there are actually several kinds of lisp. The result is that the speech is unclear.

The *Lisp (aka StarLisp) programming language was conceived of in 1985 by Cliff Lasser and Steve Omohundro (employees of the Thinking Machines Corporation) as a way of providing an efficient yet high-level language for programming the nascent Connection Machine.

Originally specified in 1958, Lisp is the second-oldest high-level programming language in widespread use today; only Fortran is older (by one year). Like Fortran, Lisp has changed a great deal since its early days, and a number of dialects have existed over its history. Today, the most widely known general-purpose Lisp dialects are Common Lisp and Scheme.

Lisp ist eine Familie von Programmiersprachen, die 1958 erstmals spezifiziert wurde und am Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Anlehnung an den Lambda-Kalkül entstand. Es ist nach Fortran die zweitälteste Programmiersprache, die noch verbreitet ist.

Lispeln (Sigmatismus, vom griechischen Sigma) ist eine Form der Dyslalie. Sie gilt in der deutschen Sprache als Sprechfehler für den Konsonanten [s] . Das s wird beim Sigmatismus interdentalis nicht wie üblich mit der Zunge hinter den Zähnen an den Alveolen (deutsch: Zahnfach) gebildet, sondern an, beziehungsweise zwischen ihnen. Ein gelispeltes s ähnelt dem „harten“ englischen th (Stimmloser dentaler Frikativ).

Lisp est la plus ancienne famille de langages impératifs et fonctionnels. Développé initialement en tant que modèle pratique pour représenter des programmes (par contraste avec la notion théorique de Machine de Turing), il est devenu dans les années 70 et 80 le langage de choix pour la recherche en intelligence artificielle. Les langages Lisp sont aujourd'hui utilisés dans de nombreux domaines, de la programmation Web à la finance, et dans les cursus de formation en Informatique.

Lisp, förkortning av "LISt Processing", är ett funktionellt programspråk skapat av John McCarthy 1958. Det är det näst äldsta programspråket fortfarande i allmänt bruk, bara Fortran är äldre. Liksom Fortran har det ändrats mycket sedan den första versionen. På grund av de många varianter och dialekter av Lisp som skapats sedan dess, är det kanske riktigare att säga att Lisp inte är ett språk, utan en grupp av besläktade språk. Kända dialekter är Common Lisp, Emacs Lisp, AutoLISP och Scheme.

Läspning innebär ett felaktigt uttal av ord eller stavelser med konsonanten s, som då inte uttalas med sitt skarpa ljud utan ett mer väsande, ungefär motsvarande ett engelskt th. Läspning beror huvudsakligen på att tungan ligger felplacerad, som är för långt framskjuten emot eller emellan tänderna, istället för att hållas innanför dessa och på tillräckligt avstånd för att släppa fram ett fullt s-ljud. Detta talfel uppstår mest genom ovana och bör, med hjälp av övning och uppmärksamhet på tungans hållning, lätt arbetas bort.
