Lifter bezeichnet Fluggeräte, deren Antriebsprinzip vermutlich auf der Erzeugung eines Ionenwindes durch Ionisation von Luftmolekülen und deren Beschleunigung in einem elektrischen Feld mit starkem Gradienten beruht.

Lifter
Si definisce con il termine Lifter, detto anche Asymmetrical Capacitor, un dispositivo elettroidrodinamico di propulsione che, utilizzando una corrente elettrica ad elevata differenza di potenziale (15-100 KV) applicata alle superfici di un condensatore fortemente assimetrico, genera una discreta spinta che può essere utilizzata per il proprio spostamento e sostentamento.

Liften
Liften is een vorm van reizen waarbij de reiziger gebruik maakt van de vriendelijkheid van auto- en vrachtwagenchauffeurs, door te proberen deze chauffeurs over te halen hem of haar voor korte of langere tijd mee te nemen ('een lift te geven').
In de meeste Europese landen is liften toegestaan langs alle wegen, met uitzondering van autowegen en autosnelwegen (in Nederland volgens de definitie die daaraan in de Wegenverkeerswet is gegeven). De tijd die men moet wachten op een lift, is afhankelijk van een groot aantal factoren, waarvan de uitstraling van de lifter de belangrijkste is. Een lifter met een verzorgd uiterlijk wordt doorgaans aanmerkelijk sneller meegenomen.
