Lieutenant
A lieutenant (abbreviated Lt, LT, Lieut and LEUT) is a junior commissioned officer in many nations' armed forces. Typically, the rank of lieutenant in naval usage, while still a junior officer rank, is senior to the army rank. It is also used in fire services, emergency medical services, security services and police forces as a rank.

Unterleutnant
Der Unterleutnant ist ein Soldat im niedrigsten Offiziersdienstgrad. Er gehört zur Dienstgradgruppe der Leutnante bzw. Subalternoffiziere. Der Rang war 1662/74 erstmals in Frankreich eingeführt worden und ist von anderen Armeen übernommen worden.

Lieutenant est un grade militaire d'officier subalterne. Le terme signifie littéralement « qui tient lieu de » et désigne historiquement des représentants du pouvoir souverain.

Podporucznik
Podporucznik - (ppor.), najniższy stopień oficerski w Wojsku Polskim, z korpusu oficerów młodszych. Polski oficer w stopniu podporucznika na naramiennikach nosi dwie gwiazdki.
Oznaczenie stopnia na czapce garnizonowej i rogatywce składa się z wąskiego galonu umieszczonego na całej długości łuku daszka oraz z dwóch gwiazdek umieszczonych na środku otoku.
Natomiast na berecie i furażerce oznaka stopnia składa się z jednej belki i dwóch gwiazdek. Na stopień podporucznika (jako pierwszy stopień oficerski) mianuje Prezydent RP. Uroczyste mianowanie zawodowych oficerów WP odbywa się podczas promocji wieńczących ukończenie Wyższej Szkoły Oficerskiej lub Akademii Wojskowej (WAT, AMW).
