Leukemia
Leukemia or leukaemia (Greek leukos, “white”; haima, “blood”) (see spelling differences) is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation (production by multiplication) of blood cells, usually white blood cells (leukocytes). It is part of the broad group of diseases called hematological neoplasms.

Cancer of the blood cells.
 
Accelerated phase of leukemia
Refers to chronic myelogenous leukemia that is progressing. The number of immature, abnormal white blood cells in the bone marrow and blood is higher than in the chronic phase, but not as high as in the blast phase.
 
Acute leukemia
Cancer of the blood cells (leukemia) that characteristically comes on abruptly and (if not treated) progresses rapidly.
