lemma (linguistics)

The word lemma has a different meaning in logic and in mathematics. In linguistics a lemma is the canonical form of a lexeme.Specifically, in lexicography, "lemma" is a synonym for headword, q.v.In morphology, a lemma is the canonical form of a lexeme. Lexeme, in this context, refers to the set of all the forms that have the same meaning, and lemma refers to the particular form that is chosen by convention to represent the lexeme. Lemmas have special significance in highly inflected languages such as Czech. In this sense, a lemma can also be called a citation form. The process of determining the lemma for a given word is called lemmatisation.

Le lemme (ou lexie, ou item lexical) est l'unité autonome constituante du lexique d'une langue. C'est une suite de caractères formant une unité sémantique et pouvant constituer une entrée de dictionnaire. Dans le vocabulaire courant, on parlera plus souvent de mot, notion qui, cependant, manque de clarté. On construit des énoncés avec des lemmes, les lemmes sont faits de morphèmes.

Das Lemma (von griechisch  lemma, Pl. „Lemmata“) ist in der Lexikografie und Linguistik die Grundform eines Wortes, also die Wortform, unter der man es in einem Nachschlagewerk sucht (Zitierform, Grundform).Der Vorgang zur Bestimmung der genaueren Lemmata wird als Lemmaselektion oder auch Lemmatisierung bezeichnet.

Uppslagsord är ord som utgör rubriker ("ingångar") i såväl uppslagsverk som ordböcker. De står oftast med fetstil och förklaringen står i vanlig stil. En ordboks omfattning mäts oftast i uppslagsord, alltså hur många ord man kan slå upp. Uppslagsorden är alltid i grundform, så vill man till exempel ha en förklaring till ordet went måste man slå upp go (ibland hjälper ordböckerna till med en sådan hänvisning).
